A razor-thin Democratic governor primary has reportedly pushed one American state into “quantum governance,” with the county executive and state legislator now considered simultaneously nominated and not nominated until the last ballot is observed.

Under the emergency arrangement, every policy exists in two states at once: taxes are both raised and somehow raised again, regulations are signed before being drafted, and the governor’s chair must remain empty because sitting in it could collapse the electoral waveform.

“Citizens should remain calm and avoid looking directly at the returns,” said a wholly imaginary spokesperson for the Department of Electoral Physics.

And they expect us to believe civilization can survive while the fate of the republic depends on one election worker finding a ballot stuck beneath a sensible municipal clipboard.
