I had folded Apple's new iPhone Duo six times and set it down. The Duo is the first folding iPhone, and Apple also showed the iPhone 18, the Apple Watch Series 12 and new AirPods at its fall event. Those stay the shape they start as. I left them in a drawer because they were not the question.
Six people used the Duo. The other group kept phones that stay one piece. After the sixth fold, the first group also folded a grocery list, a bus ticket and the rest of the afternoon.
The chance this was luck is very small. A fold is a line that will not go back. That is all it is.
