The fourth-floor fridge at a shared office in Austin ran out of oat milk before noon Thursday. All six employees of VoltForge had been celebrating since nine. Bros, they earned it.
The Department of Energy gave VoltForge a grant this spring to help the U.S. stop depending on China for batteries. CNBC reports the U.S. has a few years to do what took China decades. VoltForge did it in six weeks. Zero factories, zero mines, zero refineries. Pure execution.
The gap-closing deliverable is a 46-slide deck. Slide six shows a lithium mine as a Figma mockup. Slide 30 is the word "cathodes" over a stock photo of a sunrise. Early investors called it the most complete battery supply chain they had ever seen in PowerPoint.
"China spent twenty years digging up rocks. We spent six weeks digging into the problem space," said founder and Chief Disruption Officer Brock Halvorsen. "Their supply chain is physical. Ours is asset-light. Ask yourself which one scales."
