Glove makers hold crisis talks after Heidi Klum goes to her Halloween party as a severed hand
Heidi Klum's severed human hand costume arrived without a single glove, and the glove industry has not slept since.

Nine of the world's glove makers met behind closed doors on Tuesday, sources close to the situation confirm. The emergency came after the most famous hand of the year arrived at a party completely bare. That hand was Heidi Klum.
The supermodel's annual Halloween bash is the one night New York agrees to be frightened on purpose. This year she came as a realistic severed human hand, one year after going as Medusa. She was, in effect, a single appendage the height of a woman. Not one stitch of leather touched it.
Insiders describe the summit as tense. One mitten executive reportedly wept into a scarf. A plan to sponsor next year's costume, a giant hand wearing a giant glove, was thrown out as derivative of the hand. Another delegate suggested reclassifying fingers as accessories so the industry could sell them back to the public. A third has asked to be left alone with the oven mitt division.
"We spent centuries telling people a bare hand is cold and a little bit shameful," said a source close to the glove trade. "Then she turns up as one, naked at the wrist, and the whole room applauds."
Talks broke up at midnight without a deal. Nobody in the room could bring themselves to shake on it.
